Something I think many of us in #scipol have been struggling w/during this pandemic is that most of our job is to network and talk to people- it& #39;s what makes the stress and bad days really worth it.

But how do you maintain a networking practice when you can& #39;t see anyone?
People think networking is a dirty word but it& #39;s just abt building relationships with colleagues- something that& #39;s super necessary during a socially distant pandemic.*

One of my best "networking during a pandemic" tips is to JOIN A TEAM. The best way to get to know new people is to work with them toward a common goal.

Volunteer with a local #scipol or engagement group, take on a new leadership role, or apply TODAY to the @Day1Project cohort!
Virtual networking events can be super fun (shout-out to @scipolnetwork + @ESEPCoalition) but can also feel exhausting especially if you& #39;re an introvert.

Be sure to mix in plenty of one-on-one catch-ups w/old + new connections- phone calls or virtual coffees have worked for me!
Even just a quick email "thinking of you!" where you share an article or thought with an old contact can go a long way in maintaining a connection during social distancing times.

In general, sharing articles or news that is relevant to your last convo with someone is a https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="đź’Ż" title="Hundert Punkte Symbol" aria-label="Emoji: Hundert Punkte Symbol"> tip.

We often focus networking on reaching UP to people ahead of us in their careers. This is fine, but don& #39;t forget about your cohort or even those behind you in their #scipol journey. These people probably have more time and are super fun + valuable to know.
Last tip: when reaching out to new contacts right now, always leave room for grace

Send a disclaimer saying you know that this time is busy for everyone in different ways so if they& #39;d prefer you reach out later, that& #39;s okay. Feel free to gently nudge after 2 weeks of no response
If you have more ideas for how to network during this time- please share!
