Yesterday in Asheville, a group of activists teamed up with the family of a man senselessly murdered by APD to paint a huge mural on the street outside of the police station saying "Defund The Police" #avlnews

Later in the evening, local far-right provocateur and "journalist" Chad Nesbitt, his wife, and a buddy with an iron cross tattoo defaced the mural by pouring blue paint over the "DE", making it say "Fund The Police" #avlnews

There were several activists on the ground when this was happening, and the the two groups (Activists vs Chad Nesbitt) grew all night long - there were screaming matches, open carried weapons, talk of God and Jesus and fruitless attempts to reach "across" #avlnews

On the Chad Nesbitt side, at least one known and outed Klansman showed up - and he was armed. There was also a person on the Nesbitt side wearing the iconic atomwaffen facemask, among many less obvious fascist sympathizers (they are there to defend the blue, after all) #avlnews

Meanwhile, activists formed a human chain to guard some of their people while they began the hard work of scrubbing the mural clean of blue paint. They spent all night doing this. #avlnews

This morning, APD showed up with a pressure washer and arrested two protesters who were defending the mural. They then began removing the mural with said pressure washer.

That makes it official. The city chose a side, and they picked the one with Klan support. #avlnews

I've never been more convinced that @EstherManheimer needs to be removed from her position along with Cheif Zack of @AshevillePolice . These people are a disgrace and should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. #avlnews
