Ending the Bergwijn vs Pepe debate once and for all. (A thread)
We’ll start with their premier league stats.
Pepe has 6 goals and 5 assists in 1681 minutes. Bergwijn has 3 goals and no assists in 487 minutes
Pepe averages a goal contribution every 152 minutes, while Bergwijn only averages 1 every 162 minutes.
Although there is more to a wingers game than goal contributions, Bergwijn is a very direct winger, while Pepe is more creative, so you would expect Bergwijn to put up better numbers than Pepe.
Pepe is green, Bergwijn is blue. This graph reinforces my previous point, Pepe contributes more to his team other than goal contributions than Bergwijn, yet Pepe still contributes to goals more frequently, showing he is a better player
Now let’s look at the goals each player has scored. Pepe has scored 1 penalty, yet he’s also scored two excellent goals against West Ham and Brighton, and two good finishes against United and Newcastle. Bergwijn scored a very good debut goal against City, a tap in against Wolves
And a goal from a defensive and goalkeeper error against United. Pepe also showed he can score free kicks in the Europa league, showing he is a more versatile goal scorer.
People say Bergwijn has suffered due to Tottenham’s lack of attacking threat, but Tottenham have scored more goals than Arsenal this year. Pepe has also played under 3 different managers in the worst Arsenal team in recent memory, in a team with no other good creative players
Pepe has completed the most take ons per minutes in the premier league this year, showing he’s an excellent dribbler as well as having better end product than Bergwijn.
I’m not taking anything away from Bergwijn, he was good value for money, but to calm him better than Pepe is ridiculous.
End of thread. Likes and rt’s appreciated, I put a lot of time into this
