I think the reaction to the #KHive, who refuse to back down and be quiet, is a misogynoir reaction, a dislike of women of color, who are the majority leaders/group members of this group.
I think @JasonOverstreet and @MalcolmNance and others are reacting to both misogyny and racism factors, clouding their judgment on certain realities of behavior. It's causing them to reconfigure ppl who shld be their allies/partners as "enemies."
But really, it's just some form of misogyny/sexism/racism driving these behaviors. It's an attempt to reassert a status quo a lot of these ppl are used to, where Black women and other women of color are at the bottom and only used as supporting aid or silent assistance.
It's apparently okay for Black women to make phone calls, do outreach, or support a candidate, as long as they quietly back down when confronted with a man, any man, who has a different viewpoint. Misogyny, btw, is something we have not really confronted fully and has an impact.
For example, I have seen few examples of bad behavior from #KHive ppl in regards to things like harassment/doxxing/targeting. What I have seen is some contempt for Warren's past behavior regarding her claimed NA heritage.
From NA ppl themselves, honestly, and I will absolutely step back for their opinion and consider it more valid than my own. My point is there has been no direct harassment of supporters of other candidates for VP from #KHive. That's a false claim made by Overstreet.
I have a feeling he's conflating his feelings abt Warren w/perceived behavior toward her as somehow connected w/himself. In other words, there's a psychological explanation that, because they are not acquiescing to demands Warren come first, it's being interpreted as personal.
Yesterday, Malcolm made a claim that was false and set loose over 800,000 ppl to get one woman who didn't agree w/himself and Overstreet kicked off Twitter. Then, I believe when he realized he was wrong, he blocked her and refused to erase tweets and apologize.
I cld be wrong, of course. Perhaps he blocked her and the dozens of ppl who told him to reread the thread (or muted them--I believe I'm muted, probably before this, I curse a lot maybe?) and doesn't know. But it is doubtful. My concerns here are bigger.
1. I am concerned abt our ability to build coalitions when some of us running around like a bunch of angry babies, wanting our way only.
2. I am concerned abt how we still don't have a full addressing of racism and misogyny on the left. Torn down statues are symbolic.
3. Changing the name of butter is symbolic. They are all nice things; I'm here for them. However, they are nothing if not followed w/true change, including legislation AND a realization by men that they are part of the problem.
And don't come at me w/"Warren is a woman." Yes, she is. But she is a white woman and she often shows that privilege, without checking it well and many of her policy concerns benefit white men first. I'm sorry but that is the deal. I think men feel they have "compromised enough."
Perhaps they feel they have "compromised enough" by supporting Warren and so everyone else shld suck it up, as they feel they have. This attitude is a problem. It's the same attitude that is causing some white women to say "we haven't had our turn."
