With @children1st, Prof Kay Tisdall & Dr @fifimorrison we've sent a briefing to MSPs ahead of the Stage 2 Debate on the Children (Scotland) Bill: https://bit.ly/CSBStage2

The Bill can help ensure children’s rights & best interests are upheld, protected & promoted by family courts.
We welcome many of the amendments brought forward to strengthen the Bill to protect the rights of children.

We urge MSPs to support amendments that will realise the Bill’s key policy objectives in regards to compliancy with the #UNCRC and protection for victims of #DomesticAbuse
Children who have experienced domestic abuse are the experts in their own experiences, and we strongly support amendments 1-5 lodged by @ashtenRD which improve the Bill’s compliancy with the #UNCRC by stating that all children are presumed capable of forming a view.
Children’s rights to privacy are being breached in family courts and we urge MSPs to support amendments which promote protection for young people's confidentiality.

#ChildrensBill
We have consistently highlighted the need for skilled, individualised support to facilitate children’s participation in the civil courts.

We welcome amendments that look to establish a system of support and advocacy for children and young people.
We support amendments in a number of other areas too, including further protection for vulnerable witnesses.
