Trying to do better/I'm learning =/= Doing Better/applying what you've learned

Lately, I've seen so many non Black folx say that they are "trying to do better" but if there's no evidence of you being better than that entire phrase/sentiment is empty and performative at best.
I've also seen that when non Black people are confronted about their bias, they deflect.

This is reckoning that we are going through is going to be uncomfortable for you.

Stop running from conversations that could breed growth in you. Running = leaving twitter/blocking/etc.
One last thing I've seen is non-Black folx vilifying Black folx for calling out bias & racism.

Confronting bias =/= Attacking character and assuming so is dismissive.

If you are in the wrong, take responsibility, apologize sincerely, and educate ya self.

That's doing better.
And taking responsibility, apologizing sincerely, and education is not the same thing as apologizing for not being a racist and then engaging with comments that negate your apology.

Apologies also do not contain "if" statements - this has ALWAYS been true.
Oh and deleting your twitter/running from twitter/blocking people on twitter who confront your biases is not going to make them disappear.

Doing these things when you're confronted is not the right thing to do...

Stand in that truth, apologize, and address accordingly.
Yo this should also go without saying:

BLACK WOMEN ARE ALLOWED TO BE FRUSTRATED/ANGRY/SAD/ ETC.

Stop assuming that when we express these emotions that we are "attacking" you. I've experienced this recently and its hurtful and dismissive.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
