Remembering how I went debs shopping in a really popular Irish formal wear shop (mostly popular through insta and fb) and the owner 'helped' me through my app
I was a good bit bigger than now back then and she kept telling me that the dresses that clearly fit me, didn't and handing me dresses a good few sizes too big. While I was changing she was telling all the slimmer girls how great they looked
I felt like shite through the visit to the shop. She told me dresses were 'not for my shape', I may have been bigger but I've always had an hourglass figure. I know myself now that pretty much most styles suit me. I left wrecked.
She took photos of the slimmer girls for their families and chatted with them telling them how gorgeous they were and how they should model her dresses. She just threw dresses 2/3 sizes too big at me.
I finally got my dress in a wedding dress shop in town. The shop assistant was a SWEETHEART. She told me my figure was perfect for every dress and was horrified at what had happened in the other shop. I only had to size up once, which is common in formal wear and stuff I believe
Actually can't stop thinking about other girls getting shat on by snobby people when buying dresses like that sort of situation makes everyone feel so vulnerable about their body, just some thoughts there's no actual point to this thread.
