We've not even started seeing the economic impact Covid-19 is going to have. If you want to lean into the war metaphors, right now is like the Phoney War. But the damage is going to hit very soon and it will be catastrophic.
It's going to affect people from every demographic but I think years and years of reporting about how young people are only one lost paycheque away from homelessness gives you an idea of how it's going to hit me and my peers.
How many of us will be returning to parent's homes in a year or moving from expensive urban cities to cheaper towns? How many of us will be financially setback for years to come? Will this result in an essentially lost generation?
Some people have been unlucky enough to be in the first wave of those struck financially by Covid-19. We've seen the lack of help the gov have given them. With an approach like Boris Johnson's particular brand of conversativism, the outlook looks so incredibly bleak.
