Sirens and Greek Mythology
‘In Greek mythology, the sirens were dangerous creatures, who lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and singing voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island. Roman poets places them on some small islands called Sirenum Scopuli[...]+
The literals geography of the “flowery” island of Anthemoessa or Anthemusa.”
We’ll pause here and get into these bits.
Sirenum scopuli are 3 small rocky islands. English poet, essayist, playwright and politician Joseph Addison confidently identified that “The Sirenum Scopuli-
-(I’ll call it SS for simple purposes) are sharp rocks about a stone’s throw from the south side of the island” of Capri. Capri is an island in Italy’s Bay of Naples. The landscape in Capri is rugged, like the rocks. There are loads of assigned locations for sirens however-
-I’ll mainly look at the idea of Anthemoessa (or Anthemusa) Although the name of the island doesn’t exist, there are lots of accounts connecting it to the island of Ischia or Capri in the Bay of Naples. Ischia has a lot about it that’s interesting but I think, for the purpose of-
-the bighit universe, I’ll point out these points:
1. Ischia and Wine
2. Ischia and Sirens.
Ischia is the home of Denominazione di origine controllata (DOC) that produces both red and white wine. I don’t think that’s too important tho. What’s important to take from this is-
-that Dionysus and Ischia are subtly related. When I search the two up “Typhon” comes up. Who is Typhon? Typhon was a monstrous serpentine giant and one of the most deadliest creatures in Greek Mythology. It also key to note that Typhon attempted to overthrow Zeus for supremacy-
-of the cosmos. The two fought a devastating battle and Zeus won. Typhon was cast into Tartarus, or buried underneath Mount Etna, or the Island of Ischia. 👀 but how does this link to Dionysus? Well, it’s key to note that some Greek scholars have Dionysus, as well as other gods-
-and goddesses flee to Egypt in the form of animals. Dionysus flees as a goat, Artemis a cat, Heracles a fawn, Apollo a hawk, Hermes an ibis, Ared a fish and Leto a mouse. As you can see Namjoon, who is linked to Noah’s Ark, has loads of animals but he doesn’t have all the one’s-
-we just mentioned except for goats. This could link to him being Dionysus and this just blows my mind 🤩
Another thing I need to mention is that Typhon could be a basis for the society that outcasted people (if you haven’t read my 100+ theory and manifestation island theory,-
-I’ll link it at the bottom of this thread) and really the gods are the outcasts and the society is Typhon. This would link to the war/rebellion and the idea that the society tried to take the youth’s power away and so they rebelled etc. (Again, you would need to read my 100+ -
-tweet theory, sorry...I’ll link the summary of my idea as well, I made a shorter summary and then continued from it) +
However, this is not 100% confirmed because translations have been lost and Greek Scholars have all depicted it in different ways. But this is possible.
Now,as I mentioned-
-before, Ischia also seems to have some kind of connection to sirens, very subtly, as some scholars have suggested that it is near where the sirens lived/the sirens island. If this is the case, I think my idea of Manifestation Island could link to this as well. The Manifestation-
-Island is home to the sirens, instead of the outcasts, and the outcasts are the ones that are between the society and Manifesto Island, aka outside of the labyrinth (ON)
However, Anthemoessa is not confirmed to be Ischia, there is still another island that could be it. Capri-
-is a bit difficult to tell anything but I searched the page and one thing that I found was that Capri was called “goat island” by Timans. Capri also coul deceive from Latin word capreae which means goat 😮 that again, goes back to Namjoon, Dionysus and the goat. 👀 Anyways, I-
-think that’s it for now. If I need to continue or add anything to any of my threads I will but Left and Right just came out whilst I was writing this so I’m gonna go! (I’M SCREECHING INTERNALLY)
