Like A Monkey in A Fair

There are really some GUYS who make you FEEL SPECIAL to them when you’re really NOT. They DAMAGE you. Not at first, but, eventually, they damage you.

They have WAYS … a lot of ways. (Thread)

They make you laugh, first and foremost, they make you laugh; you laugh together. They smile, through their lips and through their words, they smile — they tease you, they tickle you. 2/x

They finish your sentence. They sing along to your tune. They understand your moods. They know your favorite food.

They get you. THEY. JUST. GET YOU. … 3/x

Until such time that they make THEIR favorite food YOUR favorite food, their enemy your enemy. They make you AFFIRM every single thought they have of someone or something. They make you MIRROR them. They make you their SHADOW. 4/x

And you have already fallen SO DEEP into their ways, you realize you have INDEED become their shadow. You exist, but only when they’re standing in the sun, looking the other way, blinded by the light from another source. 5/x

You exist, but only when there’s very little light in the middle of a pitch-black dark.

You exist, but they disregard you.

And when they sleep at night, you VANISH. You mean NOTHING to them anymore. 6/x

But you know what? IT’S NOT YOUR FAULT.

You are DUMB and STUPID for dancing in their palm like a monkey in a fair, but it’s not your fault.

Being a shadow is something that you can sense easily. Being a shadow is something that you can RECOVER FROM. 7/x

Being a shadow is something you can RUN AWAY FROM if and when you still can.

Being dumb and stupid is not your fault.

But ignoring the signs is a choice you make — to keep dancing, to stay dumb and stupid, is a CHOICE you make. 8/x

And you can stand up for that. Perhaps you are too immature to understand and not be so stubborn about it.

But WHAT KIND OF LIFE would that be, being dumb and stupid for someone who is insincere, dishonest, deceitful? 9/x

What kind of life would that be, not being able to see yourself for who you really are and show the world who you really are because you simply mirror someone — because YOU ARE SOMEONE ELSE’S SHADOW? 10/x

Guys like that, guys who make you feel special to them when you’re really not, they DAMAGE you.

They DESTROY your ability to TRUST and LOVE someone meaningfully. They DEPRIVE you of your RIGHT TO BE FREE. 11/x

So, set some STANDARDS for yourself, and I hope that you meet someone worthy of BREAKING those standards for.

And always remember: dancing in someone’s palm like a monkey in a fair is NOT YOUR FAULT, but to keep dancing is a CHOICE you make. (End of thread)
