While I did not experience sexual assault, I do have many stories I would like to share about my experience in Twitch Kittens from 2016/2017 when I was a member of Team Khalico. I think this is pertinent info for the twitch community at large bc Twitch Kittens is so prevalent.
I was recruited through twitter in 2016. I had only been streaming for half a year, and was by all means a "baby streamer"
I joined the community, excited because I felt I had been recognized as a worthy streamer. Twitch Kittens was still very new and was run by a boyfriend/girlfriend team. The girlfriend was the "face" of the community as she was a streamer and the boyfriend was not.
Please note I will leave several details out as I feel they are not my story to share.
The community grew rapidly and the leaders eventually achieved twitch partnership. This was a "win" for the entire community because we now had a stream team.
"Optimal members" were scouted for the Twitch Kittens team. I was part of the team to go through applications and choose which ones were "worthy" of team membership. They would eventually add a second more "elite" stream, khalico, which I will talk about more later.
I quit being part of this application team when I realized it was just an easy way to get people to do free grunt work.
The boy leader, ModestMarill, mined the community at large for free labor. Applicants were talked down to frequently if they weren& #39;t eager to do all the annoying "paperwork" tasks that went into a lot of what made twitch kittens run.
Most people did this in the hopes of gaining favor and opportunities. Marrill had contacts with all kinds of industry professionals for sponsorships, game keys, front page spots, etc.
The girlfriend, who I am not naming bc I believe him to be the problem, was under a rigorous stream schedule and as such was not available in the community very often. However her discord/twitter account was somehow still able to respond to messages when she was live

I confirmed this myself by messaging her while she was live and watching her to confirm she wasn& #39;t responding. He had her mannerisms down to a T including her c: emojis and talking style. Creepy af tbh.
I heard from multiple sources, who I will not name bc its their story to tell, that Marill would DM them with the girlfriends account pretending to be her in order to solicit nudes from these girl members of Twitch Kittens.
My personal experience was getting a front page spot for a charity. I had made my own custom layout for the event & while I was live on the front page Marill emergency DMd me to make one for his gf RIGHT THEN so she could have a nice overlay for her fp spot in an hr
I also had started my JustStreamerThings podcast and was solicited by Marill posing as his gf to let them make it an official twitch kittens podcast. I mention this to show that every resource a community member created they tried to absorb as their own.
On to Khalico. This was the "elite" team of Twitch Kittens. It was clear to many members of the team and of the TK community that its main priority was recruiting hot girls even if they werent active members of TK or sometimes even members of TK at all.
A lot of stream teams are run this way, but this is an important detail because it was sold to the TK community as something you could work up to being part of and many people were manipulated into being part of the "applicants" team and doing the obnoxious paper pushing
hoping if they did enough favors this would earn them a place on the almighty Khalico.
Many members of the Khalico team would recommended TK members who were awesome active members of the community but it became abundantly clear that the main focus was subjectively hot girls.
When you take into consideration the massive power imbalance between Marill and the streamershe was recruiting, his catfishing and manipulation, it leads to a lot of sordid situations.
There was also a public bullying of an artist because she was advertising her commissions and Marill didnt like her. She was publicly shamed until she left. This situation, on top of his other behavior, caused about half of Khalico (incl me) to quit the team and community.
A final situation which would warrant its own thread was him catfishing as his gf, communicating with a male member and "offering" female members to him. Then growing angry when this male member flirted with the gf leader. Marill publicly shamed him and this male member
Was ousted as a predator in the group. Shamed and kicked from the team, this member would later commit suicide. Not my story to tell in its entirety, but one of the situations that haunts me to this day. Rest in peace.
Thats gonna wrap up this thread @/modestmarill does not deserve his platform or influence.
I never spoke until now bc of his connections and how many friends he has in the industry, and i was such a small streamer. I was scared. I know there are probably dozens of stories involving him that are worse than most of the tidbits I included here.
Thank you to everyone speaking out and giving others the courage to come forward with their experiences. Hopefully together we can create a better collective space.

More screenshots related to the artist who was bullied. Marill was actually angry that she wouldnt give a discount to twitch kittens members at large. After a fight between them he was "kind" enough to let her keep posting even if she didn& #39;t give a discount

final update because someone sent me a screencap of the original message where one of the founders posted in the announcements affirming all of the behavior described in this thread. this announcement was later deleted and marill quietly resumed power in the group.
the final thing i want to say is that while the founders reflect the core of the community, i think there are many amazing streamers in the twitch kittens community and mod team who are/were mostly unaware of any of this. i wish the best to those community members.
