Today I learned that:
1. Many of you believe that reflection is some sort of punishment for men when it’s kindest possible recommendation for a population so culpable in many ways.
We discuss it everyday but it seems to have flown over heads because “some fathers are good”.

I cannot believe that we’re still doing #NotAllMen as if being fathers absolves them of everything. Isn’t it fathers who stifle their wives, are happily secondary parents & contribute minimally to caregiving (the hardest &least rewarded job)?
2. In today’s climate, we’re literally fighting our lives (covid-19) &for black lives to matter to law enforcement. For men, it ends there. For women it continues, because we’ve to fight against men, incl. the ones in the home (incl. fathers), to stop being violent towards W+C.
A lot of the men in these recent reports are fathers. D/banj, Biodun Fatoy/inbo, Future/, etc., are fathers.

3. Ask yourselves what triggered y’all so much about “reflection” over a tokenistic day that a lot of people acknowledge only for sentiment’s sake.
What are fathers afraid to find if they reflect? What are the others in solidarity with them afraid to confirm if they also reflect?

The reason dads who are exceptional are admired so much is because they’re rare. Many perform below average and many are terrible. So yeah, celebrate your dad in any form, I have nothing to say about individual lives. But collectively? Houston, we got a problem! REFLECT.
Lastly, I’ve learned that when people get super riled up over a simple idea, it’s probably radical & they’ll come around some day. My not-kneeling tweet had more outrage than this.
