Just to put some nuance out there... Yes, words like ‘stupid’ or ‘dumb’ are ableist. The himbo trope is not?

And comparing being attracted to people of lower intelligence to pedophilia is very gross and, actually

ableist!

Fetishising low intelligence is also gross but I feel like that’s not what the himbo trope is?

Himbos are rejections of toxic masculinity, big guys who are often clueless but kind & don’t mind

ppl correcting them and such. They don’t pretend they know everything.

It’s true that the language around himbos is often ableist but that doesn’t mean the trope itself is.

Remove words like ‘stupid’ out of your vocabulary & replace them with words that often even fit better!

Clueless, ignorant, silly, etc. depending on the context.

This thread explains the ableism here better than I can. What I said above about replacing words should not

be done uncritically, but by thinking about what you really mean — & sometimes you just shouldn’t say

the thing at all.
