seen some posts on ig in the last week about "killing the cop in your head" and at first i was confused but after this weekend i think i get it
1/
personally, what resonated for me was listening to black speakers this weekend at a public march-turned-round table and one said "there is no such thing as 'wokeness' there is only honesty."
2/
if we the Left is going to successfully work together to find and work towards common goals we have to stop policing eachother.
*this especially applies to the constant new influx of information and resource posting on social media
3/
learning how to approach abolition, combatting fascism and capitalism requires a lot of work and sharing social resources is great, don't get me wrong, but doing the work to have conversations and act outside of that is vital and we need to remember this is not a competition.
4/
"killing the cop in my head" for me means to stop policing and expecting people to constantly keep their feed updated with BLM etc. content. post often, take breaks, don't post at all idc. bc what really makes an impact is how we decide to take what we learn during this
5/
time to prioritize community and build coalitions that haven't been seen before.
6/
my typos and grammar mistakes in this thread are already driving me nuts and that's just my internalized colonialist-white supremacist classist lens that i was taught ope
