I’m gonna start a small thread on how adele is the most recent music legend. I’m not gonna go super in depth, but i’ll be covering some of the HUGE things.
let’s start with 25 usually i would start with 21 but I think starting with 25 is better. the lead was hello. Hello sold over 1.1 million copies(only song to do so) on ITUNES debut! Also, hello broke youtube’s record for fastest video to reach 1 billion views It took only 87 days
let’s talk about the album itself. The album sold 3.38 MILLION in the US alone in DEBUT WEEK. Globally, 25 sold 5.7 MILLION. All these numbers are pure sales, as the album was not on streaming services. 25 went on to sell 15 million in 6 weeks.
adele also announced “Adele live 2016” it had an audience of 2.4 million, but over 10 million people tried to buy tickets for her USA leg alone. she also broke the australian record for biggest crowd with 95,000 fans. she breaks her own record the next night with over 100,00 fans
25 went RIAA diamond in 8 months, the fastest ever. 25 was the best selling album of the year, twice. 25 has over 3 billion streams, despite it wasn’t released on streaming platforms for a year. 25 is the second highest selling album of the last decade.
okay let’s talk about 21. the lead single was rolling in the deep and was HIGLY acclaimed by music critics. it slowly rose through the charts and became the LARGEST crossover hit of the past 25 years.
21 was released and became the longest running #1 album by a women in both america and the UK. ( 23 and 24 weeks). It continued to be the best selling album for 40 weeks and is the best selling digital album ever.
not only did this album SELL, it also made a huge impact in music. it was the only mainstream album that had that sound. other artists at the time were focused on bubble gum pop (teenage dream)
adele went on to SWEEP the grammies and collected 6 trophies in one night, the most of any female ever- tied with queen beyonce. 21 is the most awarded female album with 7 awards.
21 spent 63 weeks in the top 3 of billboard and 84 in the top 10. it is the longest charting female album ever. 21 is the most certified album in world history with 24 diamond certifications. it is the BEST selling album of the last decade. number two is 25, as mentioned earlier
21 was the best selling album, for two years in a row. Adele is the only artist, along with micheal jackson, to do so twice. here are some sales for the album
