While we're out here lambasting and eviscerating these companies and men (as we should) I do want to make a small, gentle, and not-so-cozy reminder:

not everyone, even in the light of all these things, can just up and leave.

This is that loud and inconvenient reminder that for a lot of people reading up and finding out this shit right now, just like we all did, they may not have the luxury to just.....up and leave their marketing firm. Or give that sponsor back.

We still not all white dudes.

This is a reminder that some of us are That One Token Girl/Black Person/Queer™, and that the likelihood that we getting the same pushes and cuts as our cishet white colleagues is non-existent.

Reminder that black folx got glow ups recently BECAUSE George Floyd was murdered.

So I'm not gonna sit here and drag minorities for filth when they find out (for example) their CEO is a bag of shit and they can't leave because doing so will ensure they're homeless in a month. We have no clue if we have other opportunities because they aren't lined up for us.

Reminder again of WHY we don't have opportunities: take your pick.

my tone?
my piercings?
my clothes?
my name is "too ethnic"?

we don't all have that luxury to be like 'oh this is hot shit? then fuck you.' Our livelihoods aren't tight like that.

So please keep this in mind as you make calls to drop agencies, drop companies, drop sponsors, etc.

If you see someone is hesitant it probably directly ties to their livelihood. Forcing them to choose between their morals and their ability to live is.....pretty cruel.

And then take that anger and say it with me:

burn capitalism to the ground.
It's horrific and it's deadlocking some of us and that should absolutely also make you mad.

but if you see them still following these bags of shit then honestly still drag them like I'm here to defend your need to pay rent but don't give these ash monsters you bandwidth.
