1- Saddest Father’s Day weekend moment:

Agreeing w/ my sister that we’re glad Dad didn’t live to see this crap (cont).
2- He fought in the Battle of the Bulge then practiced appellate law for 50 years. He loved history & the law. He passed away in 2015 at age 90, before TDS crazed half the country.
3- His feet froze in the Battle of the Bulge. He did get a Purple Heart but never did get feeling back in his feet.

He never once complained though. To him the country was worth it.
4- He grew up poor on the “wrong side of the tracks” in Mayfield, Kentucky. He came from a family of alcoholics.
5- He got an English degree then went to law school on the GI Bill. He had almost no money until he began practicing law in Missouri.

White privilege my ass. It was called hard work and perseverance.
6- He gravitated to appellate law and became widely regarded throughout southwest Missouri.

He revered the law, believing it was the the cornerstone of a civilized society. He hated nothing more than dirty or shady lawyers.
7- He also loved history, consuming books on WWII and great generals.

He recognized that Nazi Germany was pure evil but that some of its generals e.g. Erich von Manstein were military geniuses.

Adults can allow such thoughts to co-exist.
8- The riots and monument lunacy would have made him crazy. He would be the first to say “This is crazy, Teddy Roosevelt advanced civil rights while New York was named after a slave trading company????”
9- That all said, don’t worry, Dad. We’ll get your beloved country back. We’ll fight like you did in the Ardennes forest. It’s worth it.
