i'm starting to realize based on that entire hubbub about the using japanese names thing

it seems like the Internet is now drawing lines in the sand between natives and diaspora members of a certain culture/race

i have noticed that the people who are against-
-using japanese names online and stuff are usually asian-americans who don't speak japanese and were raised in america, so their entire argument is reframed around their life experiences there.

meanwhile, I've noticed that people who tend to not mind people using japanese-
-names online tend to be people who live in asia, and not even necessarily in japan. people in singapore for example like my friend @dropsof_snow who translated that thread of an exchange student's observations

we have to ask ourselves then, is it really morally correct to-
-ask everyone in for example, asia, to adjust to the views and opinions of the diaspora in america (and I'm sorry but I can't help but notice it's often people in america who raise these issues)?

I'm personally for not policing entire people, so I think-
-it's best to agree to disagree on things like this.
as someone who lives in asia, I really really dislike it when someone of my own race but lives in america claims to speak for all of us and expects all of us to adjust to their narrow world views

it's like living in the west also made them adopt the cultural imperialism too
I want to be clear, I have acquaintances and good friends who are asian-american and don't buy into this "cultural policing/imperialism" and I'm very grateful for that

this thread is meant to address those who do those kinds of things, who think that-
-non japanese people wearing kimonos is cultural imperialism (nevermind that tourists in japan regularly avail of such services there…).
anyway, I've ranted enough, again.

i want to end this thread with a food photo, so here's my lunch

salted eggs and tomatoes with fish sauce
