The meat business is not perfect. But this inaccurate and unfair. I am a Bloomberg Fan but this awful. Very poorly reported. Meat plants workers and the companies were deemed essential and got no guidance or help from the OSHA or CDC till late April. 1/2 https://twitter.com/business/status/1274907740440350721
Even the title is dishonest, calling the plants largely unregulated. There are several USDA employees in a major packing plants all day every day. I am not sure any industry has Federal employees in the location business everyday all day. This article is horrible.
The plants were failed by the US government. Just like the rest of the country. They couldn't buy PPE. USDA inspectors made folks take of bandanas and homemade masks as unapproved items. USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service. Consider that Name. Ask yourself who failed who?
