The result being that the responsibility of realizing otherwise happened with the support of other communities and really weakened the bond I had with my family. It was an unnecessary distancing that could have so easily been avoided with even some inclusive language.
I know this is mainly a generational issue. (I’m Gen X, my dad was Silent Generation, and my mom a Boomer.) I guess what I’m saying is, thank you for this thread @Jess5th. It resonated.
