see... this is what i thought... i shelved the book... but having spoken to my publisher and my editor i would humbly amend this to "contemporary POV"...

i would never try and write the life of a Black person today, but a medieval person?

thoughts?
sensitivity reads are a must! i do not demy that! i had a muslim Arabic man, a woman of colour, and two Black women read my work and help me ensure nothing could be misconstrued... the only real issue was me forgetting to explain the ghanaian empire properly...
sidebar: if anyone does want further proof i can ask my publisher for permission to share the email she sent which assuaged my fears about this...

and again i want to shout to the rooftops that if you are a Black or Arabic writer who wants to write about medieval north africa...
...but you don't know where to start, please ask me!

i have a list of books on my website but i would love to encourage and help anyone writing this era and area because we need more African historical romance that is not traumatic!

Black people deserve to read Black joy!
so if you want any help on getting going, hit me up! i have a weird executive dysfunction thing about beta reading because of my issues with being liked but i will help any other way!

and if you've writtenmedieval africa, query LoveAfricaPress!
