A doctor on a podcast I heard today spoke about how awful COVID is because patients die alone. She said doctors assess from hallways & families don't get to visit. She repeatedly stressed "They all die alone."

The NURSE is there.
The NURSE is always there.
They are not alone.
She repeatedly referenced how many COVID deaths she's pronounced. All I could think was all the nurses she didn't once mention who were bedside, holding hands, holding iPads, wiping tears, BEING PRESENT during the dying.

It's not a suffering Olympics but boy is it different.
I see the fatigue on my colleagues, the long road ahead of months and years of COVID isolation care and I see how isolated they too feel being the only people bedside to be HUMAN every day, all day long, with these patients.

I see them and I see you guys doing it too.
