The worst migraine today because... lol... that fic was a thing. It's the kind that appears in my sleep and I wake up, the scene still vivid in my imagination. and then the wheels churn at 2 or 3 am while i unpack the scene I just dreamt and wonder if I write it.

TBF, it doesn't appear often. Some scenes pop up in my dream once in a while. As much as I want to write it, I don't have the heart to do so because as I said last night, it feels too close to reality (even when it's in the future)

I feel it's fairer for me when it's AU because it's not like they're gonna be chefs, architects, or rockstars. I realised that this separation is important to me. What they feel may be close to home but it's never really them.

So, to hopefully bury this dream, I'm going to share about those scenes that I dreamt. Haaah, to be fair, you'll understand why it was such a delicious plot. TW: Since it's in the future, it does talk about enlistment.

[Dream 1, the one that ruined my sleep]
It's the middle of the day and there's a crowd around some public office. You can see Jungkook with a buzz cut, his smile beaming at hyung line who were dropping the last jokes they can before he leaves. A playful punch here and there-

and then they hug together like they usually do, in a big round, before Jungkook finally waves goodbye to them and then to the cheering fans behind them. There's a montage of videos of their goodbyes and it ends with Jin's big smile as he says goodbye to JK.

Jin's big smile is at the front of the newspapers the next day. Such a newspaper was at the boys' dining table while they all have breakfast together the next day. The rapline was just talking stuff. Beats. Collabs while Seokjin silently ate.

When Seokjin was done, he stacked his dishes quietly. He stood up, clapped his hand, and said "Boys, I'm leaving the dorm by the end of this week."

And then I woke up. WHAT THE FUD.

How does one recover from that, right? I tried to sleep but I couldn't stop thinking how did the rapline react to that? Hoseok would be surprised. Namjoon, would he scold JIn? Then Yoongi... Yoongi would probably support him.

[Dream 2]
The last scene in the previous dream would appear once in a while but after a month or so, this dream continues with Yoongi in his studio, Hoseok ranting about Jin's departure, and Namjoon coming in with JK on the phone.

So while the hyungs (sans Yoongi) complain to JK about Jin's decision, JK was like, "Hyung actually told Tae, Jimin, and I while all of you were in LA. We even went furniture shopping." And he'd shout to Yoongi that they made sure Jin bought really nice furniture!

And for some reason it ticked off Yoongi so he left the studio. The last scene in that dream was Yoongi picking up his phone and looking at his message box just for Jin, but he hasn't really sent him a private msg for years because they use the GC anyway. So... how.

So when it was clear that this AU has been haunting me, I really tried to sit down and maybe process it. I thought of scenes where Yoongi attempts to invite Jin for bbq but his filming schedule was really tight.

Then there's another scene I thought where on the weekend Jin leaves, the boys were supposed to help him but Yoongi was in the studio and fell asleep and missed out. He tried to catch up but Jin refused him and said it's late, they should rest, etc.

So you know how Yoongi feels strongly about being sorry to Jin? This fic could probably capitalise on that.

Tied to this, at one point, I thought of a scene where the boys were in a meeting in BH and talk about their plans now that they're back from LA. Collabs, mini-albums, mixtapes, etc.

When it came to Jin, Jin wasn't around since he was filming his drama. Bang PD talks about Jin's song for the drama. Yoongi suggests that he writes it for Jin but apparently the song has already been recorded and is just being polished by S. Rabbit.

At this point, if he can't get Jin for bbq or even in the studio, Yoongi felt that Jin was slipping from him. My big question was why was that so devastating for Yoongi? I mean, I know the delulu answer but I wanted to process that more.

As friends, it's probably easier to let things go. If I want to wring on Yoonjin, my answer (months after the first dream) was they made a promise to really consider what relationship they have when they get back from the military. Are they mates or will they be lovers?

I pondered if this was something they had a talk on before they switched to the big dorm, when they were parting as roommates. I thought of a scene where Yoongi rises from Jin's bed and Jin asks what should they do next? Yoongi wanted to focus on his career. So did Jin.

So they agreed that they'll focus on their careers, see how that goes. Little did they know it will explode and that they got closer too but with military looming, they thought of waiting it out after. Jin left first. Yoongi followed. Jin returned. Then Yoongi was months after.

But Yoongi left for LA (collabs and all) quite quickly when he got out of the military and that left Jin figuring out what to do and that maybe Yoongi's departure was clear sign that he was out. as they all got busy doing their solo things, that he should learn to be independent

It's not like Yoongi left just leaving Jin behind. Their relationship was one of the stables in his life and he had a clear answer to begin with. So when Jin started making independent, Yoongi was confused, hurt, did he do something etc. etc.

And it ends there. The scene that haunts me at night recently is Yoongi visiting Jin's flat and saw Sandeul and Ken there. That, Jin had invited other people over to his apartment but not him. Oh my heart.

I may have thought of an ending where they do talk it out, but when I try to think of just writing things down for this AU and processing their emotions, I just couldn't.

So adieu, canon-compliant au. I hope that by barfing this out I will have better sleep. ; w;
