You want to know why this cop tried to strangle a man to death on camera, @NYCMayor? Because YOU didn't fire Eric Garner's killer when he actually did strangle a man to death on camera. Kept him on the force for 5 years. Paid him 6 figures. Gave him raises. YOU sent a message.

You want to know what would happen to any one public defenders represent if they were accused of this act, let alone caught on camera? Arrested. Charged w/ strangulation. Class D violent felony. Mandatory min 2 years. Max 7. Bail set. Pretrial on Rikers. Job lost immediately.

But the people public defenders represent don't take an oath to serve & protect. Don't have the awesome power & discretion to deprive someone of liberty. Don't have the obligation of restraint. The job with the greatest responsibility should come w/ equally great consequences.
