Kinda makes sense why you didn’t even wanna discuss payment for your writers editors and creators at @TheAffinityMag who are all highschool and college students for their labor. https://twitter.com/evelynvwoodsen/status/1274812012267216898
Kinda like how I was let go after I tried to organize a writers strike on 2018.
Let’s also get to the unprofessionalism at the top behind the scenes @evelynvwoodsen and @TheAffinityMag your old racist and homophobic tweets resurfaced and you issued an insincere apology to the staff and then went back to business as usual.
And then this all happened during the fall 2018 season while I was writing a weekly review and recap article for the latest season of American Horror story. It was partly my choice to leave but you still let the rest of that season go uncovered by any other writers on your staff.
So many former writers and editors can also speak on the terrible things they experienced while working for @TheAffinityMag FOR FREE. We, the writers put so much into our content and we got NOTHING in return.
ACTUALLY I’m lying. We did get some pretty cool stuff like once and a while you’d do a raffle and gift a couple lucky writers with Gift cards! 😍
@TheAffinityMag prides itself on equality. You probably have some current writers advocating for equal pay and even putting some Marxist ideals in their writings when in reality we were content machines working for retweets.
But to cap it off my favorite experience is trying to get similar publications that I thought I could trust like the now defunct @theGLUEmag who ended up being on @TheAffinityMag side and decided to come for me in my Instagram DMs...
I tried to get them on my side because I thought they would help me advocate for better treatment of our writers but this is what I got instead. The tea was that I was organizing a strike but they thought I meant @evelynvwoodsen ‘s old racist tweets
Wait not my retroactive spill! Every tongue am I right @theGLUEmag???
