while we’re on the topic of respecting Nature, can we discuss how disrespectful international kpop stan twt is to Nature? #RespectNature

having been a leaf from debut, i’ve seen just about everything said about them, and i’m tired of Nature being viewed as a joke, not taken seriously by outsiders, especially girl group stans who like to make edgy or upsetting jokes

starting with the 2018 soribada awards, Nature winning a roty award angered bigger fandoms and they began making humiliating jokes about the girls

not just the average “flop” jokes, like saying they have no fans or cant sell albums, but searching out clips of the girls to make inappropriate jokes, for example, Lu’s red flavor impression from an early interview

then later at the MAMA awards, other fandoms becoming irrationally angry at Nature for having a longer stage than their favorite group, and going on to rant about them, which became a meme. +

+ this is disrespectful in itself, but these events have created Nature’s reputation as a joke, and it’s so tiring hearing the same rude and many times gross jokes about the girls. one example of outsiders only thinking of nature as their stan twt jokes

and honestly the most frustrating for me are the gaga jokes. it’s 2020 and people are still making jokes about her. when she initially left the group, instead of being respectful, many just joked about how she was kicked from the group

for the vlive incident that was just a funny situation that the girls laughed at. it’s resulted in tweets like this. it’s disgusting and annoying and i hate that it’s become her image to stan twt.

and when other members of other groups left during 2019, they were not treated like this. a funny incident from months earlier was not brought back and joked about while their fandom was trying to process losing a beloved member. so why is it that people justify this behavior?

i think it says something about the overall view of underrated groups, especially girl groups. that it’s okay to say absolutely anything disrespectful and rude about the members because they are unpopular. why should fame equal someone’s worth?

next time you want to make a rude joke about nature or any other group that you know absolutely nothing about, think about what good it does to recycle 1-2 year old jokes for attention when they were never funny in the first place
