People have different motivations for participating in moral panics. Some are genuinely hypnotised by their religion or ideology. But some are just cynical opportunists who are out to settle old scores & use the frenzied atmosphere as cover. Be careful.

Does this Associate Professor of Psychology genuinely believe that Jon Haidt is a "trojan horse for racist elitism?" I highly doubt it.

She's much more likely to be a hyper-careerist who sees this moment in time as an *opportunity* to climb the ranks of her social hierarchy.

When norms for resolving conflict are in flux, it creates an atmosphere of "kill or be killed."

Neighbours turn on neighbours, friends turn on friends, even family members turn on family.

Obviously we're not at this stage yet in society, but academia is. The purge is going to be painful with a lot of collateral damage. Expect people who don't like you (for whatever reason) to suddenly accuse you of being "racist" &/or "sexist." Keep records to protect yourself.
