I want to work in an industry where EVERYONE is held accountable for what they say and do regardless of their position of power, or gender. Are you human? You do some grimy ass shit? You better believe I'll talk. I'm not your doormat or your dirty clothes hamper.
There be some horribly emotionally unstable, self-destructive, self-centered, manipulative PEOPLE in this industry with LONG histories of doing fucked up shit to people. Don't fuck with me or my peers. I don't really like cancel culture on the internet. Confront this shit head on
Some things to look out for.
*UNDERSTAND WHAT GASLIGHTING IS* It can become a very nuanced thing with people who are good with words or people who have a big support group.
*UNDERSTAND WHAT SCAPEGOATING IS* make sure people are held accountable every step of the way in a decision
*MAKE SURE EVERYONE IS FOLLOWING THE SAME RULES* It's very common to work in a studio where there is a culture or rule set.. Make sure everyone is held to those standards. If they aren't, call it out. Or quit. Trust me. It's not worth the trouble dealing with rule-breakers.
Different types of peoples/ genders gaslight and manipulate differently. This makes working in a healthy space, very hard to navigate if you assume that these people are going to always exhibit a specific kind of behavior. *Passive aggression* is a HUGE ISSUE
Take note of how your close "friends" treat you when you change jobs. Ever have a AAA job and all of a sudden everyone wants to be your best bud? Then when you quit that job those best friends seem to ghost you hard? Yeah they aren't your friends. They are trying to climb you.
Everyone deals with stress differently. Just because you aren't yelling in someone's face, it doesn't mean you aren't stressing them the fuck out. Understand how different people function while under stress. Just because they aren't yelling doesn't mean they arent freaking out.
