Farewell, my nation! Black Hawk tried to save you, & avenge your wrongs. He drank the blood of some of the whites. He has been taken prisoner, & his plans are stopped. He can do no more! He’s near his end. His sun is setting, & he will rise no more. Farewell to Black hawk!
We quote this masterpiece of Indian eloquence because Black Hawk’s sons came subsequently w/ the tribe to Kansas...just criticism & a stinging rebuke upon the entire white race, that ought to be & WILL BE remembered against us by the great eternal Spirit forever. – @kansashistory
