It's been more than four months and no one has explained why we need testing. https://twitter.com/JoeBiden/status/1274821636466892806
There's no vaccine or cure, so if you're asymptomatic, there's nothing to do. Maybe self-quarantine, but that's only effective if you're testing literally everyone, and everyone who tests positive quarantines, which is never going to happen.
We should absolutely be testing people with high exposure rates (medical professionals, first responders, etc.), people who work with at-risk groups (nursing homes, hospitals, etc.), and people like that. But everyone? Why?
I have no problem with people getting tested if they want to, and even tracking those numbers. But people seem to be all-in on testing as many people as possible, are relying on the testing numbers (or, more specifically, the positive results), and no one seems to know why.
Hospitalization numbers are a useful metric. Number of deaths is also a useful metric. But tests? Positive cases? Not useful to most people, and certainly not useful to most people who have a laser focus on them. So this insistence on more tests is completely baffling.
