The imitation of the US protests does not mean people are protesting against America, nor does it mean they are following America. It means quite simply they are protesting against a worldwide system whose center of power is in America

Or better put whose center of power the protestors believe is in America (whether it is in fact in America is a different question we don’t need to answer for this purpose)

As for the Uyghurs, I am very sorry to say it but very few care about the Uyghurs. In the Muslim world - to the extent that it exists - they are and have always been peripheral. That more than anything explains the difference; the Muslim world is hierarchical. China knows this

We should know it too because the Western world was and is hierarchical. No one went to the rescue of the Czechs in 1938, Poland started a phony war and France a war of liberation
