2/ Just because we immigrants have these jobs here in the US, does not mean that there are 3 less jobs for US citizens. In fact there are 5 more because I do employ 5 US citizens and train many more students. This equation is more complicated than
3/ „If you get the job I don’t“ In fact, this logic is the foundation of many of our other diversity and racism problems. How about this idea: We can ALL be successful! There isn’t a limited number of jobs in academia. There are funding sources beyond NIH
4/ such as philanthropie and hence funding is essentially unlimited. The more of us work together and really create value for society, the more funding will be available to employ whoever the heck wants to be part of this mission. Also, make no mistake...
5/ I chose this country as my home. I didn’t come here because I needed a job. There were and still are plenty of other excellent options for those of us out there who are creative, do quality work and who are willing to be flexible.
