since a lot of people actually don't know about what shane dawson did to dan and phil, and how he basically publicly outed closeted LGBTQ+ people without their consent,

here's a thread:

shane dawson had a podcast, where he invited the psychic twins on. they talked about "phan" and dan and phil's speculated relationship, and say they "don't out anyone" but then go on to say that dan and phil are in a relationship, and out them publicly.

here's a longer clip, if you want to listen. dan and phil denied the psychic twins request to let them do an analysis, so shane decided to let them do it on HIS podcast instead, even though dan and phil had already said no.

in the clip, his podcast partner also makes the comment that she does not think dan and phil are gay because they "don't dress gay enough", and shane agrees with her.

in a (now deleted) video uploaded to shane's channel, about "youtuber conspiracies" he considers "phan" (the speculation of dan and phil being in a relationship) a "conspiracy theory" (peoples' sexualities are NOT a conspiracy) and digs into "proof" of them being together

including digging up old deleted form spring posts, and other content that dan and phil clearly had deleted and didn't want to be brought up.

he also accuses them of "queer baiting" in that video, despite not knowing them personally, or knowing their sexualities or any part of their personal life.

before that, shane used their "ship" and exploited them for views, very often. including this video where he reads graphic smut fanfiction about them, on camera, without their permission .

in this video, shane watches dan's old youtube videos (from when he was 18 years old) and makes several graphic sexual comments about dan, again, i'm assuming he did not have dan's permission, since he never has with anything else.

here is another clip about the podcast and them even stating that dan and phil did not give them consent to analyze them. this also includes the quote of shane accusing them of queerbaiting.

as a bisexual person, you'd think he would care about the consequences of outing someone, but clearly he doesn't, as he has NOT MADE ANY PUBLIC STATEMENTS OR APOLOGIES.

he did not even have the decency to apologize about outing them, even after dan confirmed his sexuality last year in his coming out video "basically, i'm gay." in the video dan talks about how much bullying and internalized homophobia he has suffered throughout his life

which made it extremely difficult to come out in the first place. i'm guessing that a very famous youtuber publicly "guessing" his sexuality like it's a hot piece of gossip, probably didn't help.

in addition to that, here's a short explanation of a very good point regarding how it could've affected him

this thread doesn't even include the countless acts of racism, blackface, etc. i have no idea how anyone could continue to support him. i wanted to make this thread to bring this up because i've found that a lot of people had no clue of him doing this.

and again, shane has made 0 public statements regarding this, or any sort of public apology to dan and phil, or the LGBTQ+ community in general.

i hope this helps a lot of you see who you're supporting, especially if you're LGBTQ+ or even an ally. if the racism doesn't make you realize what kind of person he is, or if you believe "he's changed", hopefully this shows you more of his character.
