We need to change how we respond to hate on here. This is going to be a bit of a rant thread but the one sentence summary is this:

"Block and Report” has created a culture where it’s not enough to remove the person from your space but they must be driven from twitter too.
This leads to a natural escalation of tactics: reporting tweets, hacking accounts, eventually doxing.

The first step is unfollowing report accounts (both solo and ot7) and retiring the report gcs you're in.

we need to recognize that there can be a certain level of hatred toward members/bts and it will do NOTHING to hurt the members or bts as a group.

1) Report accounts and GCs need to be active to stay relevant. This leads to people getting targeted for simple jokes or minor statements.
- Once people make it on a report acct/gc's radar once, they're monitored constantly for a slip up and never given the benefit of the doubt

2) Impacts the mental health of people following report accounts and belonging to report gcs
- There is a definite mental cost in exposing yourself to hate and vitriol even with the good intention of trying to lessen it.

3) Leads to distorted views on the fandom, especially if you're in a member specific gc

leads to increased victimization because your exposed to the worst twitter has to offer
4) Unintentionally signal boosts hate and attacks to wider audience
-this problem isn't unique to report accts/gc but too often tweets with close to zero engagement get seen by thousands just because they were brought to an account to either report or ridicule +

just because you find some dog poop in our yard doesn't mean you need to smear it on the front doorstep for everyone to see.
Shifting from "Block and Report" to "Block." is about creating a space for yourself and your followers where only the good is on your TL. The bad will always be out there, but you don't need to bring it into your home.
