banri is an interesting character, a nice guy with good intentions, and has gone through a lot of character development that will only continue to be expanded on as he grows to be a better person.

his character flaws don& #39;t warrant the amount of hate he gets. [THREAD] https://twitter.com/_hakujoudai_/status/1274763647923793921">https://twitter.com/_hakujoud...
from the beginning of banri& #39;s introduction with his portrait, he explains his circumstances and how he genuinely has trouble understanding why other people struggle.

not to put them down, but because he finds everything easy.
but when banri "finds everything easy", it means he understands how things work at a technical standpoint, or how you& #39;re supposed to execute something.

he still doesn& #39;t understand Everything though, because if he did then he& #39;d know what it& #39;s like to find things difficult.
one of banri& #39;s character flaws is introduced early on, and continues to be revisited as the story progresses: his empathy, or lack of it.
banri has trouble putting himself in other people& #39;s shoes, or seeing the world outside of his focus.
it& #39;s the flaw that creates a road block for him and his social relationships, and as an actor who must understand the character they& #39;re portraying.
it& #39;s the spark that initiates the bad blood between banri and juza - banri doesn& #39;t quite understand that when he targets him, it can be hurtful. especially if it& #39;s verbal, and he& #39;s not causing any physical harm.
while juza has spent his life misunderstood and challenged, banri sits on the pedestal people have placed him on.

banri is not lowered from this pedestal until he is woven into the main story.
and when banri is finally exposed to people who genuinely challenge him, critique him, and push him to broaden his horizons in the form of mankai company and autumn troupe... banri begins to change from the passion-lacking punk he once was.
at 17, banri shows that you can& #39;t sit comfortably at the top of things forever, especially when you& #39;re not trying to maintain your position.
he finds something to be passionate about, and something to fight for. banri shows that it& #39;s never late to find a purpose.
of course, banri still has to work on bettering himself despite acknowledging he is different from his past self before / during the early half of akigumi& #39;s story, but it& #39;s a part of life and we get to see how he grows to be more compassionate.
it& #39;s easy to dismiss banri as a cocky, arrogant bastard, but there& #39;s nothing inherently wrong with being confident in yourself and knowing the extent of your abilities.

banri knows what he& #39;s capable of, and voices it as more of a fact than to brag.
aside from juza, banri doesn& #39;t intentionally put people down. this is not to say he doesn& #39;t ever make anyone inferior, because it does happen (main story, back stage, etc.) but not because banri deliberately wants it to happen.
when banri claims he can do something easily, he does it to reassure others and himself. that they can depend on him and they don& #39;t have to worry, albeit in his own confident way.
besides, banri doesn& #39;t keep his knowledge to himself! he& #39;ll explain to others how to do things, even if it& #39;s as simple as solving a puzzle or rubik& #39;s cube.
if there& #39;s a clear disadvantage for the other person, banri will even the playing field (ex. gaming handicaps)
banri is also very generous and kind, which is an overlooked trait of his despite it being covered countless of times all over the game. it& #39;s not just in the main story or back stage stories, but even on the home screen or in the earn cash mini game!
he& #39;s always willing to lend an ear if someone needs to talk or ask a favor, but banri also shares his belongings, gives them away to people who he knows will like it, or offers to buy people things (even if it& #39;s just a refreshment!)
aside from juza / anyone that initiates a negative interaction, (ex. sakyo, kumon defending juza, etc)
banri also makes an effort to get along with everyone. he tries to bond with them over shared interests! this is how he became gaming buddies with itaru / cafe buds with tsumu
banri is also rather sweet and dependable towards izumi / mc, even if he does like to get a reaction out of his teasing. but there& #39;s still a level of respect he maintains even when he does tease!
even though he wasn& #39;t a solid leader when he was first chosen, banri develops leadership skills that improves his capability tremendously. he still has lots to learn as a leader, actor, and person... but you can& #39;t deny how much he& #39;s already grown.
highlighting his flaws that (imo) don& #39;t hold a candle to his positive traits erases who banri is as a character.

it dismisses his character development, details incorporated to the stories and gameplay, and makes him out to be more shallow than he really is!
the point of this thread is not to shame anyone, but to express qualities banri has that i feel are overlooked.
it& #39;s not my intention to police anyone over how they feel or act towards him, but i hope it can shed some light about what i love about banri + help you love him more!
