it is completely uncomfortable that kpop stans are being sensationalized by the media and credited at the forefront of this movement instead of actual protestors and the abolitionist leaders who are still alive living through this generation of social upheaval and call for change
and it is DELIBERATE yes the media is and always has been a tool of the state of course they're gonna trivialize the protests and deflect attention from them by praising kpop stans out the ass when we all know damn well they're antiblack as hell at worst and at best, fetishizers
and if you have some spare change, I'm currently trying to leave my toxic household. my father is incredibly homophobic and racist, and I do not like to ask for help so don't feel obligated.

yes I'm a kpop stan who hates kpop stans for trending racist hashtags by flooding their fancams with them + being militantly antiblack to black kpop stans by harassing them or doxxing them every time that antiblackness needs to be addressed in that industry and fandom. we exist.
the way kpop stans are disagreeing with this because they wanna be applauded for being part of a movement. yall helped trend racist hashtags and abused black stans for speaking up when this first started. you don't get a say when your activism hasn't led to legislation or reform.
“For a lot of black fans [...] to see white K-pop fans get praised and credited in the media for anti-racist activism, while black fans have faced (and will continue to face) anti-black harassment online for spearheading these conversations, feels like a punch in the gut.”
quote from this article now please stop arguing about how you deserve to be praised over protestors, activists, and some of the greatest abolitionist thinkers of our time living through yet another generation fighting for civil rights https://www.technologyreview.com/2020/06/05/1002781/kpop-fans-and-black-lives-matter/amp/?utm_medium=tr_social&utm_campaign=site_visitor.unpaid.engagement&utm_source=Twitter&__twitter_impression=true
muted and advanced filters on so if you seriously think you and your fandoms DESERVE to be used as jokes played by the media to silence/overshadow protestors, activists, and abolitionists, ask yourself why, go through this thread, and learn empathy. https://twitter.com/chiassoso/status/1267822101324390407?s=19
