Let me be very clear about something:

If you drop an author's name, if you try to use them as a shield, a sword, a door, a prop, they will find out.

I have been RTing others on the Krueger situation because 1) they've said it much better and 2) I've never gone out of my way to lift up that name, and 3) so often those statements can feel a bit empty, like covering bases.

It has however come to my attention that Paul has more than once held up MY name as a friend and ally of his, used it either as leverage or a shied against criticism from others, and that is unacceptable.

I am friendly with many in this publishing world. I am friends with far fewer. And if I EVER hear of someone using their presumed friendship with me as a means of bullying, manipulating, hurting, or controlling others, I will find out, and scorch every inch of earth I can reach.

PS. This is not the first time it’s happened. Usually I find out someone is only being nice to me so they can leverage themselves/their books (easy to tell because they drift off when I don’t benefit them enough) but this is the most insidious manifestation.

Also, to be very clear, 90% of my anger is for the people targeted by the harassment and abuse. 10% is for the co-opting and misuse of my name.
