Yet, these Secretaries of State have also opposed federal legislation that would direct states to use paper ballots and audit election results. They continue to ask for taxpayer dollars WITHOUT federal directives. 1/

How& #39;s that money being spent? Well the @GaSecofState used $400K of his federal funds on television ads to convince the people of GA that his unpopular decision to require more electronic voting systems was a good one. 2/ https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/09/us/politics/atlanta-voting-georgia-primary.html">https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/0...
In NJ, the @NJStateDept @JerseyBobGiles spent $89K on an insecure online voting system that was used by one voter. 3/ https://newjerseyglobe.com/campaigns/new-jersey-spent-89000-for-one-online-voter/">https://newjerseyglobe.com/campaigns...
In FL, the @FLDeptofState used the federal money as leverage to require all county officials to sign an NDA promising not to reveal any security issues with voting systems to the press or the public which is probably unconstitutional. 4/ https://www.tallahassee.com/in-depth/news/local/state/2020/02/25/florida-the-most-secretive-state-election-security/4529691002/">https://www.tallahassee.com/in-depth/...
The @IndianaSOS inexplicably agreed to use $6M of federal money to retrofit 10% of electronic voting machines (2K) w/printers.That& #39;s $3000 per printer!!! It& #39;s absurd & also demonstrates a complete failure to grasp the basic principles of election audits 5/ https://thefulcrum.us/election-security-2641018061">https://thefulcrum.us/election-...
Meanwhile in TX, the Dallas County clerk recently told they county she would need an additional $6M to buy new e-pollbooks even though she had bought brand new Tenex epollbooks in the last year. 6/ https://www.fox4news.com/news/questions-grow-around-dallas-countys-claims-that-electronic-pollbooks-were-hackable">https://www.fox4news.com/news/ques...
The clerk claimed that the Tenex epollbooks wouldn& #39;t securely integrate w/the ES&S Expressvotes the county also just purchased so they had to buy ES&S pollbooks. Funny, because this ES&S proposal to Cuyahoga, OH says Expressvotes are compatible w/Tenex. 7/ https://boe.cuyahogacounty.us/pdf_boe/en-US/2019/Tabulation/ES&S%20Survey%20Response%202018_ALL.pdf">https://boe.cuyahogacounty.us/pdf_boe/e...
Did it have anything to do with the fact that the Dallas County clerk was on a secret Board of Advisors for ES&S that received gifts in the form of travel? 8/ https://www.mcclatchydc.com/latest-news/article213558729.html">https://www.mcclatchydc.com/latest-ne...
Or that ES&S paid for her re-election materials for her campaign? 9/ https://www.wfaa.com/article/news/local/investigates/emails-reveal-dallas-co-elections-administrator-soliciting-favors-from-vendors/287-484425083">https://www.wfaa.com/article/n...
States need money to run elections but that money should come with strings and directives the states must follow. The election industry is unregulated, throwing billions of fed $ into an unregulated market w/o specific requirements is wrong-headed.
