This week we aim to break a pretty massive news story via @TankerTrackers. I hesitated for a long time as I wanted to be 110% confident; even by trying to exclude this sole candidate vessel. She kept showing up in the data no matter what. Took me 5 months to confidently confirm.

The most important thing about this vessel is what she was & is carrying and to where. The evidence is based on @MarineTraffic maritime data and @planetlabs satellite imagery. We made sure to verify before, during and after the events we’ll be writing about.

I lost some sleep.

The reason I lost sleep was not because of the work involved, but the worry of what it may incur diplomatically/politically. Hopefully not too much.
