When my dad passed away, I wrote down a list of some of my favorite things about him and memories we shared together so I wouldn't forget. Here are some of my favs (a thread)
He always bragged about how great his cooking was, even if it was just boxed mac n cheese
He bought my mom flowers "just because"
He drove to Starland Ballroom to drop off tampons for me mid concert

My first month of college, I hit a detour driving home and got lost. He met me in a Moe's parking lot so I could follow him home.
He surprised me with a huge plush monkey when I got my wisdom teeth out *see below*
He kept a copy of Teenage Dream in his car

Education was really important to him. He was great at math and he liked reading.
Even though he was a high level manager, he never saw himself as better than anyone else. He took on extra work instead of just delegating

There are so many more. My dad was a great man. I wish I would've told him that more when he was here. I miss him a lot. If you are lucky enough to have a great father figure in your life, give em an extra squeeze for me (-:
I also wanna say I am so grateful for other father figures in my life: my mom, who has seamlessly taken on the role of both parents and is my best friend; and my grandpa, who is always there to help my family no matter what we need. Nontraditional families are cool, too!
I want to add this as well: if you have just recently lost a parent, i promise you things do get better. Things will never be how they were before, but you will develop a new normal and it will be beautiful. I love you
