Armed Men Break Into Nigerian High Commission In Ghana, Demolish Apartments. Embassies are, by law, territory of the country they represent. So attacking the Nigerian embassy is like attacking Abuja in itself. Yet some armed men invaded the Nigerian high commission in Accra

Ghana, on Friday, destroying some apartments under construction. The affected buildings were reportedly being constructed to house staff and visitors.

Embassies represent their home country, and have certain legally defined responsibilities and powers. They are part of the government of the country they represent. Ghana in recent times seem eager to ignore a diplomatic row with Nigeria.

In December the Nigerian commission in Ghana had been evicted in Accra for no reason. Before that 400 Nigerian business in Ghana was forcefully shut in response to Nigeria's complete border shutdown. It should be noted that Ghana shares no phsycal boundary with Nigeria

Yet it was Ghana..not Niger, Chad, Cameroon or Benin that carried out reprisal attacks against Nigerian business for the border closure.

In Africa only two countries has ever carried our xenophobic attacks on Nigerians. South Africa and Ghana. The lack of reverence for Nigeria is an embodiment of a lack of cohesive foreign policy and be the bigger man syndrome

It's ridiculous that the very country that subsidizes the economies of 15 ECOWAS states, grants then unfettered access to Africans biggest consumer market not to mention expeditionary military operations is subject to ridicule and scorn by smaller regional states consistently

The Nigerian government is yet to respond to this development. It is a disgrace and an indictment of the foreign policy team of the President.

I am yet to see a country diplomatic staffs are treated with disdain.This is tantamount to a declaration of war if the Ghanaian government was privy of this attack and the Nigerian embassy was not even informed.

Since the security of the lives of our diplomatic mission in Ghana cannot be guaranteed the Nigerian government should recall the entire diplomatic staff and temporarily sever ties while an investigation is carried out.
