For HK books? Plenty. John Carroll& #39;s A Concise History of HK is my favorite short historical overview. For more in-depth colonial history, Carroll& #39;s Edge of Empires and Christopher Munn& #39;s Anglo-China were game changers when they came out. https://twitter.com/LaerkeLindskov/status/1274425707406462977">https://twitter.com/LaerkeLin...
For post-handover political and social developments in HK, there is a great special issue of China Perspectives with a range of excellent contributions from leading people in the field. https://www.cefc.com.hk/issue/china-perspectives-20183/">https://www.cefc.com.hk/issue/chi...
Penguin did some short volumes a couple of years ago on HK. Haven& #39;t read them all, but I read and liked the ones by @benjaminbland, @HaYingsang, and @antd.
Finally, I& #39;m not a CCP expert at all, but a few books that provide good context for that side of things are Elizabeth Economy& #39;s The Third Revolution, Richard McGregor& #39;s The Party, and of course Louisa Lim& #39;s Republic of Amnesia.
