I say this with all seriousness and a deep understanding of both kpop fandom and social justice communities, PLEASE don't look to kpop fandom as a dedicated ally to any movement, and if you do, understand the immediate pitfalls of doing so
No community so closely tied to a consumerist and capitalist mindset will EVER be a reliable or consistent ally to social justice. Ever. But especially now. Never count on this. you will be betrayed.
anyway this shit makes me tired. hit me up if you want me to talk very specifically about the limits of fandom as a conduit for activism. I'm always around.
lemme go listen to the enjoyable horny goodness of She Is as a palate cleanser
Ah one last things, I am not saying that Kpop fan activism isn't important or effective, just be thoughtful and critical about the narratives created around how and why these actions are happening. It is more complex than any feel good story will reveal.
