I spoke to Andres’ dad, Cristobal Guardado, and with his permission I am sharing some of our conversation.

Pls follow @YouthJusticeLA for more information about the march tomorrow at 2:00pm.
Andres got a job, yes because he wanted to pay for his car, but also because his dad works in the restaurant business and was hard hit by Covid-19. “He told me he wanted to help me. But this didn’t help me. He just came to meet his death,” Cristobal told me.
Cristobal told me that he hadn’t felt comfortable letting Andres work so far from their home in K-town, but Andres told his dad to trust him. “I don’t drink or anything papa, please let me help you.”
“What the cops did to my son is not right. He was just a kid, starting his life. After they took him from us they left his body on the floor until 5am, and they wouldn’t even let us see him. I am his papa.”
“The news are getting a lot of things wrong. He wasn’t 20 or 21. He was 18. He had just graduated high school. He didn’t deserve this. El era un buen hijo.”
The last thing I will share is that Cristobal said he hasn’t been in front of a camera because, “no me puedo parar. En cuanto empiezo hablar de mi hijo, no puedo. Tal vez debería hacerlo, pero no puedo.” He said he can’t even stand when taking abt his son. His pain is too deep.
Please go support 414 W. Redondo Beach Blvd, Gardenia, CA. Even if you can’t make the march stop by, Andres’ family and friends are gathered there. Bring flowers, candles and light to this family.
