Angola is the largest prison in the US. It is named after the plantation that once existed there, which was named "Angola" because that is the African nation most slaves brought to Louisiana were from. Prisons are neo-plantations. Also Louisiana is home to the most noxious air pollution in the nation & is the site of "Cancer Alley", an industrial belt that runs from New Orleans to Baton Rouge. The cancer rate along this route is 50x higher than the national average.
