January 11, 2009: Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers both attended the Golden Globe Awards

Miley had an awkward run-in with the Jonas Brothers while being interviewed on the red carpet and asked Ryan Seacrest to “save” her.

January 19, 2009: Miley Cyrus and Nick Jonas both attended the Kids’ Inaugural Concert in Washington, D.C.

January 21, 2009: Miley talked about Nick Jonas in a video for MileyWorld, saying “I love Nicky”. While addressing her drama from the past year - she specified that she loves Nick, Kevin, Joe, and Demi but did not say that she loves Selena.

January 28, 2009: Miley gave a shout out the Jonas Brothers 3D concert movie for a couple of fans who met her

February 7, 2009: Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers both attended the Clive Davis pre-Grammys party

February 8, 2009: Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers both attended the Grammys. Sources said that Miley was texting Nick on the red carpet and throughout the show.

Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift performed “Fifteen” together while their ex-boyfriends, Nick and Joe Jonas, were in the crowd.

Following the Grammys, Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift met up with Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, and more Disney Channel stars for the Sonny With A Chance launch party. The Jonas Brothers did not attend.

February 11, 2009: Nick Jonas and Selena Gomez broke up. It was reported three days later, on Valentine’s Day.

February 12, 2009: Miley Cyrus went out to dinner with Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, and Justin Gaston

February 12, 2009: Nick Jonas mentioned his relationship with Miley during an interview with David Letterman, and tried to play it off as not being serious.

February 22, 2009: Nick Jonas talked about his relationship with Miley Cyrus during a special interview with Barbara Walters: "I think that it really just comes down to a good friendship, and whatever that has in the future..."

February 24, 2009: Miley Cyrus quietly attended the Jonas Brothers’ 3D concert movie premiere after-party with her mother

March 3, 2009: Miley Cyrus’ book “Miles To Go” was released. She wrote an entire chapter about Nick (aka “Prince Charming”) and continued to discuss their relationship throughout the rest of the book.

March 3, 2009: Miley texted somebody during an interview, but would not say who it was because it would “make her boyfriend mad.” The interviewer went on to expose that she was texting Nick by mentioning his box office score.

March 9, 2009: Miley talked about her “Prince Charming” during an interview with The View to promote her new book: "I still love him with everything in me, and honestly I think he's the greatest. I get asked all the time who's my favorite Jonas. Nick is my favorite Jonas"

March 23, 2009: “Hannah Montana: The Movie” (the soundtrack) was released including a previously unreleased song written and performed by Miley Cyrus, “Don’t Walk Away”.

March 28, 2009: Nick Jonas and Miley Cyrus were seen catching up at the Kids’ Choice Awards. Sources said that they were once again texting during the show.

March 31, 2009: Selena Gomez posted a tweet shading Nick Jonas and Miley Cyrus shortly after they were seen together at the Kids' Choice Awards (which Selena did not attend)

April 2, 2009: Miley once again confirmed that Nick was her Prince Charming during a radio interview

April 3, 2009: Miley mentioned Nick coming to her house in an interview when asked about how many horses she owned

April 8, 2009: An article was released discussing Miley Cyrus’ recent dream that Nick Jonas had saved her life. Less than two hours later, Selena Gomez tweeted more shade towards Nick and Miley.

April 11, 2009: Nick Jonas and Miley Cyrus are officially reunited when they went out for lunch together in L.A.

April 13, 2009: Nick Jonas attends a Dodgers baseball game. Miley tweeted about wishing she was there.

April 26, 2009: Miley tweeted about a rumor that she was cheating on Justin Gaston with Nick Jonas, or that she planned to leave Justin for Nick. This marked the beginning of the end for Miley and Justin, who both spent the next month posting angsty tweets about each other.

May 2, 2009: The television series “Jonas” premiered on Disney Channel. Just like Hannah Montana often mirrored Miley's real life, the first episode was possibly based on Nick’s love life and followed him falling quickly for a girl and writing the song “Give Love A Try” for her.

May 26, 2009: Miley tweeted the lyrics to “Inseparable” by the Jonas Brothers

May 28, 2009: The Jonas Brothers previewed “Before The Storm” during a live chat, but did not yet reveal who was featured on the song.

June 4, 2009: Nick Jonas said that “Before The Storm” was the most personal song on the new album for him during a live stream.

June 6, 2009: Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, on the Jonas Brothers filmed the music video for “Send It On”.

Miley tweeted that she was “thinking about life” with a picture of herself laying in the grass. She also tweeted about Nick.

side note: for many of the old tweets i will be using screenshots of unofficial accounts who retweeted them at the time they were posted. since both nick and miley have deleted their oldest tweets, it’s the best method to keep track of old deleted tweets!

June 6, 2009: Miley Cyrus tweeted the lyrics to “Mixed Up” by Hannah Montana, which was released one month later on the Hannah Montana 3 soundtrack. Although it was not written by Miley, the lyrics certainly fit her love triangle that summer.

June 7, 2009: Miley Cyrus and Justin Gaston officially broke up. It was reported two days later. Nick Jonas was still single at the time.

June 7, 2009: Miley Cyrus performed at the annual benefit where she and Nick first met in 2006. She changed several lyrics during “7 Things” by skipping the word “hate” and singing “Now you mean it and I believe it” and “I might come back, you’ve taken seven steps here”

June 9, 2009: Nick and Miley were seen kissing on a jet ski in Georgia while Miley was there to film The Last Song.

June 10, 2009: Selena Gomez tweeted about a conversation she was having with Taylor Swift, keeping the Jonas Ex-Girlfriend Club alive and well.

June 11, 2009: Miley tweeted the lyrics to “Inseparable” by the Jonas Brothers, said that she made a mixtape for an “old friend”, and referenced lightning striking. This would have marked Nick and Miley’s third anniversary.

June 12, 2009: Miley Cyrus did a radio interview with Nashville’s 107.5 The River. When asked about the jet ski date with Nick Jonas, she refused to comment but said that she was glad to reconnect with him.

June 13-14, 2009: Miley posted a series of cryptic selfies which all seem to be about one specific person - most likely Nick Jonas.

Note: This was a very confusing time and to this day nobody really knows what really happened because Miley was actively talking to Nick Jonas, Justin Gaston, and Liam Hemsworth at the same time - while claiming to be single. It's about to get messy!

June 14, 2009: Miley tweeted about the song “Home” by Michael Buble. In the week leading up to then, she had tweeted several cryptic things about “home” - including a tweet about one of Nick’s favorite artists, Elvis Costello.

June 15, 2009: Miley Cyrus performed an unreleased song called “So Not Over You” at a restaurant in Georgia. At the time, there was a debate amongst fans as to whether the song was about Nick Jonas or Justin Gaston.

June 16, 2009: The Jonas Brothers’ album “Lines, Vines, and Trying Times” was released. Miley Cyrus was featured on the track “Before The Storm” and several other songs on the album were written about her.

“Before The Storm” was the most notable song about Miley on the album, as it was re-written in order to work as a duet and featured her on the track. Rain and storms were a common theme in the songs that Nick and Miley wrote about each other over the years.

Other tracks on “Lines, Vines, and Trying Times” that were assumed or confirmed to be about Nick and Miley’s relationship include “Fly With Me”, “Black Keys”, “Turn Right”, and “Don’t Speak”

It was also speculated that “World War III” and “What Did I Do To Your Heart” were at least partially about Miley. The album also featured “Much Better,” which was written after Joe Jonas and Taylor Swift broke up and features a line alluding to the Jonas Ex-Girlfriend Club.

June 16, 2009: Miley tweeted lyrics from “Before The Storm”

June 18, 2009: Joe Jonas confirmed that Miley was Nick’s girlfriend during an interview with Larry King

June 20, 2009: Miley Cyrus teased that she was up to something special and the Jonas Brothers teased that they had some surprises for the opening night of their tour. Perez Hilton revealed that Miley was in Dallas, TX with the Jonas Brothers.

Miley Cyrus appeared as a surprise guest to perform “Before The Storm” with the Jonas Brothers at their concert in Dallas, TX on June 20, 2009.

Following the performance, Miley and the Jonas Brothers both tweeted about it. Miley continued tweeting things that were likely meant to be for/about Nick for the next several days.

June 21, 2009: The day after Nick and Miley performed together in Dallas, Selena Gomez tweeted about missing Texas (where she's from but also the last place her and Nick were together before their breakup) and about talking to Taylor, which she often did when Nick was with Miley

June 25, 2009: Selena Gomez tweeted lyrics from her song “I Won’t Apologize” which she wrote about Nick Jonas and his feelings for Miley Cyrus.

June 25, 2009: This is commonly believed to be Miley and Liam’s original anniversary, although everything surrounding this summer is so unclear that nobody (including Miley herself) is sure.

July 5, 2009: Miley Cyrus tweeted that she was single

July 5, 2009: Miley Cyrus did a live chat and talked about performing “Before The Storm” with the Jonas Brothers, and the bet she made with Nick leading up to it.

July 5, 2009: Hannah Montana episode “He Could Be The One” premiered on Disney Channel. The episode was about Miley having to choose between two guys and fans were quick to point out the similarities to her real life choice between Nick Jonas and Liam Hemsworth.

July 13, 2009: Miley Cyrus tweeted about the Road Dogs, the Jonas Brothers’ softball team.
