Love people trying to take a moral highground against dead prophets or founding fathers. Place themselves in that time, place and culture, they'd be racist monsters, at least as seen through the prism of their unassailable 2020 virtue hindsight. Yeah, you'd have been much better.
How bout we give people that lived hundreds of years ago a bit of a break? You don't think they'd have a better perspective if alive today? You seriously think Brigham Young and George Washington wouldn't be at the forefront of the fight against racism and for equal rights today?
No, our zero tolerance society demands its pound of flesh, especially from historical figures that can't offer any defense to what they may have said or done, because well, there is no defense. Even if they could apologize, that wouldn't be enough, would it? So, tear it all down
Toss to the side everything they did that merited the statues and monuments in the first place. No sacrifice or accomplishment from such men can vitiate the righteous demands of social justice for their unpardonable sins. They have been judged unworthy. SHAME!
