There& #39;s a Section 60 order covering the Greater Glasgow area, in force until one minute to midnight, tonight.
The order allows the police to stop and search you for offensive weapons.

The order allows the police to stop and search you for offensive weapons.
1/
It DOES NOT allow for blanket searches - you can (and should!) keep hold of any ID - you can& #39;t hide a gun between your driving license and debit card!
2/
2/
The order makes no provision for requiring you to be photographed. If the cops try and photograph you - cover your face with your hand. If they try and remove your hand - that& #39;s assault.
3/
3/
If you are searched under Section 60 powers you& #39;re entitled to a written receipt, either at the time or within 12 months.

At least one @GreaterGlasgPol officer - 714, not sure what the letter was - at the kettle in Saltmarket today tried to claim that people in the kettle could not cover their faces with their hands. Remember - "the police aren& #39;t always completely honest." (*cough*)

714& #39;s faux pas was just prior to a dodgy-as arrest, so it& #39;s likely that this is going to be raised with the Chief Constable / Professional Standards, and the PF will be side-eyeing Glasgow& #39;s finest.

Here& #39;s the legislation - it& #39;s shit and needs to be repealed ASAP (like, 1997 ASAP), but it doesn& #39;t the cops the powers they might like to claim it gives them. Be careful out there! Know your rights, and keep a good solicitor on speed-dial.
