#BTS MUSIC JOURNEY: they split into 2 groups for the interview: (1)
Q: first impressions
🐿 when I first met Jimin it was in front of a bus stop so I asked him “Jimin-ssi?” In formal language
🐥 it wasn’t Jimin-ssi. It was “Are you perhaps Jimin-ssi?” ++
🐿 Ah really? Asking you politely, it was a beautiful memory. Jin hyung, I probably met at the dorm
🐹 yup
🐿 yes at the dorm, I was, beautifully, wearing just my underwear
🐹 oh that’s right, I even remember the color
🐿 yesyesyes well anyway it was a beautiful memory. ++
🐿 Tae had come to Seoul with his dad, I still vividly remember it. And he was wearing his cap backwards
🐹 oh right right
🐿 I saw him and thought, “Ah he’s going to be a mischief”
🐯 I didn’t change. For me, I saw Jimin from his audition video
🐹 oh right right ++
🐯 So all the members who were there at the time said “he dances so well.”
🐥 Don’t lie, I’ve heard everything!
🐯 Jin-hyung, I first saw him at Practice Room #1. Trainees were either getting lessons or all at Practice Room #1. Jin-hyung w/ his broad shoulders said “Sit down”+
🐯 and that’s a memory that I have
🐿 that’s a very big first impression
🐹 my first impression of Jimin-ssi..
🐥 do you remember?
🐹 I honestly don’t
🐥 to be expected
🐹 it was a time when it was chaotic and a time when a lot of people were coming and going
🐥 don’t worry I remember everything
🐥 my first impression of Taehyung-ssi was his red underwear and with that red underwear, he had a red snapback.
🐯 at the time, at the time
🐿 oh I remember!
🐥 it’s okay, you don’t need to laugh bc at the time, +
🐥 I thought you looked so cool.
🐯 oh really?
🐥 I thought, “Oooh (he) looks like a celebrity. Ah since they’re trainees, that’s what they should look like.”
🐥 As Hobi-hyung mentioned, I first met him at a bus stop with my 2 suitcases.
🐥 Jin-ssi, I love you very much now +
🐹 what a great first impression. To say “I love you” from the start
🐥 I first saw him at the practice room, and I remember he gave me a lot of good advice

same Q to 🐨🐱🐰
🐨 I’ve said this countless times about Jungkook, if I say this again, it’ll probably be the 130th time+
🐨 but my first impression was a “pure young boy,” that sort of feeling. The type of person you’d think of when you hear “idol trainee.” An image of a pure, child, wholesome country boy.
🐨 Suga-hyung, since the first time I met him he was chic and kinda like “yeah I’m suga”++
🐰 First of all, I saw Namjoonie hyung first and decided to join the company so I had a lot of expectations. Suga-hyung was wearing a fedora and was wearing flashy clothes so I thought, “Who is that person?”
🐱 people seeing me now, my fashion was completely different +
🐱 I liked flashy stuff
🐰 Right! His clothes were really flashy. And after I joined, the monthly evaluation was right after so I saw them rapping and they were so cool. I thought, “They’ve gathered all the cool hyungs.”
🐱 Jungkookie was a baby, a total baby
🐰 a country bumpkin
🐱 there’s a 4 yr gap btwn us and from my perspective, he was a complete baby. Just right for his age, not too much like an adult, not too young, just a 8th grader Jungkookie. He didn’t know anything and was pure, it was that kind of feeling ++
🐱 Namjoonie, I had seen the videos of him and heard the music he made before he joined the company, so when I first met him, it was kinda fascinating. But like back then, you know that useless self-confidence, like “Oh I can do better”
🐰 “I can win”
🐱 You know, ++
🐱 “Oh if I go up, I’ll win” that kind of feeling. Anyway at first it was kinda fascinating

Q: a compliment for a member?
🐿 I really think Namjoon is truly enjoying his life as it is. He humbly accepts what needs to be accepted while being satisfied with his life. ++
🐿 He does what he needs to do. I think he’s a friend who is able to control himself and fills his life so he doesn’t get lazy and has the ability to self-reflect.
🐨 That’s the best kind of compliment
🐿 I wanted to give you a lot of praise
🐨 thank you. ++
🐨 Something I wanted to praise and thank Jin-hyung for is Jin-hyung always says things like “Dinner tonight?” or “Wanna go fishing tomorrow?” Tbh, one could hesitate over asking this kind of thing after 7-8 yrs after debut, so I always feel grateful that hyung approaches us ++
🐨 He’s a hyung but doesn’t use his authority (as the oldest) and always approaches his dongsaengs first. I want to say he’s a very generous hyung.
🐰 Jin-generous!
🐹 Our V is generous. Like if we’re all eating together, he’s the first one to say “I’ll buy.”+
🐹 We had a meal last time, and when I heard the total amount, WOW, I was so surprised that he would treat us. That’s when I realized, “V is so generous.” I was moved by you, you generous man.
🐯 Suga-hyung is really great at performing live. ++
🐯 He performs live so well
🐱 I think about this a lot, Jungkookie started working when he was young, right around when he hit puberty. There are a lot of people who do the same but the reason why he was able to mature this way was bc he thinks a lot. So in a way, I’m proud
🐰 👍🏻 I matured!
🐰 Jimin-ssi...well are words even necessary?
🐥 yes words are necessary
🐨 we need them (x2)
🐰 As a person who’s on stage with him, I see a lot of cool sides of him. There’s a lot I learn from him. I don’t really say much but I’m always watching you, Jimin-ssi+
🐥;;I’ll work hard!
🐥 our Hobi-hyung’s existence is a compliment. I want to praise him for being our member. I want to praise him for being our hyung. I want to praise him for being our dongsaeng. I love you.
🐿 concise!

🗣 (thanks to @/bts_megu613 for KRN trans)++
🗣 BTS became world superstars & told us their true thoughts. They’re able to talk about their 1st impressions w/o embarrassment bc of their close relationship. Their high quality performances & carefree laughter are the very essence of themselves & can be seen in this interview+
Q: turning point?
🐿 I’ve said this a lot, but INU for me. I think since our HYYH album, our messages and our sincerity towards music were well and beautifully incorporated. So, I think the fans really liked it and was a turning point. ++
🐿 That doesn’t mean our previous albums weren’t or anything but looking back that album had a lot of great songs and when I still listen to them, I tear up. So I think INU, the start of HYYH, was the turning point.
🐯 For me, the same. INU bc ++
🐯 after INU came out, a lot of people came to know what kind of group we were and we were able to do a lot of different kind of music. If that song hadn’t done well..our path might’ve been very narrow, but bc of that song I think we were able to make a lot of other songs++
🐹 since they mentioned INU, the BST album, which a lot of people in Korea started to talk about. Using the BST album as a turning point, we went abroad a lot.
🐿 yes there was a response
🐹 there was a response abroad and in Korea
🐥 Our turning point, to be very honest, ++
🐥 there was one after every album we released. We say that we try as hard as if our lives are at stake when we release an album. Like those words, we try and practice really hard and we had achievements each time. You’ll be able to recognize it if you see our MVs one by one+
🐥 in order. You’ll see our development
🐿 when I think about it, I think it was after every album too
🐹 me too, I think our turning point was after each album
🐯 yeah thinking about it, every album..
🐥 he’s saying all these cool things himself!
🐿 there’s a reason he was last!
🐱🐰 it’s INU
🐰 i think that was the starting point.
🐱 INU is a special song to me. I wrote the intro for the HYYH pt1 album. Idk I thought that would be the end at that time. I thought it would be the last fireworks and if you look back at our previous+
🐱 results, they weren’t so bad if you look at the numbers. It’s just that we didn’t get the numbers we expected, bc our expectations were so high. I thought about like this back then, that “this might be our last.” That’s why I felt like we poured all our energy into it. ++
🐱 And I still vividly remember the emotions from back then. We did our first INU performance at M!Countdown. I still remember what I was wearing and we filmed w/o an audience. So I was wearing shorts and I was the only one wearing a navy top, and it was ++
🐱 the first time I felt this feeling while performing that I had never felt. At that time, I was thinking, “Why am I so sad while doing this?” bc I thought that stage might be the last firework, so I put all my energy into the performance. I think that was the turning point. ++
🐱 One of the turning points of my life.
🐰 Before INU, we were like “IM GOING TO BREAK EVERYTHING! AH!” and we didn’t really have our own color. But since (INU), it felt like we got our own color (something had formed). So I think that was our turning point. ++
🐨 there were a lot of turning points. Since these two picked HYYH, idk for me maybe the FIRE album? Young Forever album?
Q: beliefs you’ve had since debut?
🐹 Then and now, the thing I focus on the most hasn’t changed and it’s definitely thinking “I have to do well.” Tbh, I do occasionally make mistakes but I always go on stage thinking I have to try my hardest +
🐯 For me, I just want to enjoy. Still
🐿 🐹 Ah so you haven’t changed in enjoying then and now
🐿 My greed towards the stage is still the same as before. Greed can be many different things: wanting to perform well, wanting to show many different things, I still have that kind +
🐿 of greed. The word “greed” might sound bad to some but the greed I’m talking about is a good type of greed?
🐹 Greed is not a bad thing
🐿 Generally when you hear the word “greed,” you think of wanting things for yourself and being greedy. But my greed isn’t like that. +
🐿 It’s a beautiful, transparent, pure and passion-filled greed
🐹 ok good!
🐯 Like dew

Q: What do you think about while performing?
🐰 Emotions. When I listen to music, no matter how great the voice is or the singing is good, I think the emotions from a live performance is +
🐰 doubly important than the emotions felt from a recorded voice. ++
🐰 So when I sing, though I get feedback from the songwriters/producers, I do my best try to bring all my emotions out and convey them. There are times it doesn’t work all the time, but I’m always thinking of these things a lot. How to convey emotion.
++
🐨 For me, lyrics. I started with poetry and writing
🐰 Ah lyrics are important
🐨 so I think I’m most concerned about lyrics.
🐱 I might sound like materialistic but I’m a musician who does popular music so I think of commercial/big success as a top priority.
🐱 If you asked why, I don’t really have an exact answer.
🐨 Bc it’s popular music
🐱 Since it’s popular music, ofc we put in elements for success? Especially the title? It’s complicated with a lot of factors. I don’t think people just listen to music these days. +
🐱 I can now look and feel music. So music is now something that you can feel from different types of media, on different platforms, and in different directions, and that’s why I think of success as the top priority. ++
🐿 The answer to this is so clear. The members staying close by my side gave me so much strength. In a way, you have someone to listen to you. By your side. That alone was such a great comfort and gives encouragement, yes.
