Another Point: Line Allocation isn't the sole problem. Many of the vocal heavy songs highlight/focus on jk and jimin, making the feel of the song and first listen leave you asking "where is jin? where is tae?" and require us to replay.
Obvs it isn't simple enough to just make lines completely equal where each member speaks for the same amount of time every song. That's not sustainable or what people are asking for.
We merely want to listen and walk away from it like "wow that was amazing (like it always is) and I am happy each member got to shine." which comes down to production.
For example, Hobi is consistently overlooked in terms of line allocation as well. But I definitely feel like when he does get a verse (no matter how small) it is such a great highlight to the song (as a hook or verse) and his lines are highlighted by surrounded vocals/mixing.
While lack of hobi leaves me wanting more, I rarely ask "where is he (at all)?" due to a lack of presence. except for poor spring day they did him dirty 😭 (I'm v hobi biased so that could just be me satisfied with crumbs and his delivery)
but BH consistently has left taejin out of song highlights. they have such strong voices and could have a bigger role than just harmonizing with the lines where jk and jimin are the main, highlighted vocal.
this extends to rapline! BH's shift from hip hop to pop has consistently highlighted jikook's voices in the chorus and bridge and left the rest to slowly get less lines over time... or stay with their consistently low amount of lines.
idk there just doesn't seem to be a happy medium for me as a listener. I love jikook and they deserve the praise for their hard work and lovely voices. they make you feel so much and connect to the music. but BTS are a group and the rest of them deserve to be highlighted too.
I guess here's to the taejinseok stans!! hoping one day BH takes your talent and runs with it full speed ahead! 🥴
